Our Role in an Insurance Transaction
Depending on the product and the transaction, Stan Steele Agency may act as an agent of the insurance company or as an insurance broker representing the purchaser. We will describe our role in your transaction at or before the time you apply for coverage, and again at any time upon your request.
How We Are Compensated
We receive compensation from the insurance company that issues your policy. This compensation is typically a commission calculated as a percentage of the premium you pay. In some cases, an insurer may also pay additional compensation that depends on other factors, such as the volume or profitability of the business we place with that insurer.
Because compensation arrangements differ from company to company and from product to product, the compensation we receive may vary depending on the insurance contract and the insurer you select.
Your Right to More Information
You have the right to request more information about our compensation. If you ask us before your policy is issued β or within thirty days after issuance β we will provide a written description of the nature, amount, and source of the compensation we expect to receive for your policy, and information about any alternative quotes we obtained or presented in connection with your purchase. To make a request, call our office at 585-657-6101 or ask the licensed professional handling your account.
This disclosure is provided in accordance with New York Insurance Regulation 194 (11 NYCRR Part 30). It supplements β and does not replace β the disclosures we provide at or before the time of application.
